tag: i’m it! because i can.

Thanks to she-seeks-and-finds Julie, I am the proud owner of aqua and canary yellow curtains. And SHR let me leave their premises with this way to good of a deal wallpaper. (sshhh!) Recall, I didn’t hog all the rolls.

With some fun things to get creative with – and Julie stopping in for an afternoon playdate – we hung for awhile.

Ok. How happy is this???? Once a sad sunless north facing window, now all lit up.

Here I am pondering a question – can I hang wallpaper on these kitchen cabinets? Do I?

What is there to wonder about? Unlike my friends kitchens (the pink (!!) is a complete over-the-top winner) my dark and dingy ever so present dreary wood is nothing to hold as sacred. No need to be like “well, should I really? It’s a shame to cover up such quality wood…” Not a bit.

And I have Julie saying she is up for hanging more.

Hmmm. Mr. K. He is out back putting up the hockey rink (yes.) and on his way in and out I mumble: “hey hon, we’re just going to put up some wallpaper on the back of some cabinets…” He is looking utterly confused, and I can see him thinking as he is trying to read my enthusiasm—it appears he thinks it best to just step back outside and leave it be.

You are a good guy Mr. K.

So we give it a go. Paying no attention to the enclosed directions of  “prepare surface, plaster this and that, contact dealer with questions regarding surface…blah blah blah…,” we soak, we let rest for a couple of minutes to let the glue get – well gluey – and we hang together for or a couple of hours.

On my way! Some of the darkness is no longer in sight!! Tweet tweet!

After Julie left, I still had one more lingering thought left in me. That (fake-laminate) wood shelf thingy, how bouts I slap some paint on that baby? I have everything I need to mix up a batch of my famous aqua. (Shocker!)

A beginning! And one I am happy to see in the morning. Love saying good-bye to some of the grim darkness.

Thanks for the tag Julie (and the curtains, and the help!) How fun to celebrate what I can do as I have for sure (!!) been one to complain, whine and moan about all my wish-I-could-but-I-can’t(s). Think swinging bench, or orange lockers, or gold tables…waahhhh!

Floral aqua retro curtains, birdies singing on wallpaper, another piece of painted aqua in my house —yes, yes and yes!

Because I can.

yay so fun!!! I love the curtains and those outdoor flower cup-holders in your coffee nook!!! And I’m so glad you kept going after I left because the painted aqua countertop looks so great! I think we did pretty good with the wallpaper, even though we ignored half the directions. lol.

And I’m sorry but that was hysterical the way you just kind of said under your breath to Mr. K, “By the way we’ll just be hanging some wallpaper in the kitchen on the back of the cupboards” as he was walking out the back door. Kind of threw him off there for a minute. But only for a minute. He does know his girl pretty well.

That was a fun way to hang with you, friend. Let’s do it again. :)

So adorable in person as well. Loved it. I even brought you more wallpaper to play with. If it weren’t for your current neck status I bet you’d be climbing a ladder. That or cleaning with your new cloths. Hold yourself back, girl. There will be time. Rest up. Mr. C is entertaining us over here and about to be joined by a couple of little friends.
